John "Duncan" Chamberlain was born in New York in 1962, son of Abstract Expressionist John Chamberlain. His  family resided in Santa Fe from age two for eight years before he moved to New York. Duncan learned first-hand from major masters in metal cutting, welding and fabricating parts, working in his father’s studio in both Florida and New York.

After twenty-five years of working side by side with John Chamberlain, helped influence and move the artist in creating his own style of  small and large sculptures using formed aluminum and free form metals which illuminate a style shaped into a poetic manner.
