exhibited Works

Jennifer Vasher’s paintings, Melts, are created by heating white polystyrene sheets, allowing them to pillow, drape and be pulled and torqued with tension applied physically from the artist. The form is then given a playing field – the frame itself.  Layers upon layers of hand rubbed gesso are applied and polished until an even finish is achieved unifying the field and form.

The cause and effect of the material being manipulated, the relationship between object and frame, and the unique pillow-y forms that allude to earth and body landscapes – both natural and synthetic - are the elements that the artist is exploring in these works.
