Matt McClune was born in 1973 in Worcester, Massachusetts; he received his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art Boston in 1998. McClune has been living for several years in the gentle countryside of St. Romain in Burgundy. It is hard to imagine that it is here in this environment – between lush vineyards and this charming landscape – that he creates these almost extraterrestrial pictures. However those who know Burgundy in the November fog and in the sunny early summer are more likely to understand how – in accordance with the seasons – such completely different colour creations could arise. In an isolated studio hall the artist works on reflecting surfaces of anodized aluminum with his flowing acrylic paints, creating light-reflecting pictures that let the viewer immerse himself in an entirely unique world of colour and light.
